Gerry Brooks

Gerry Brooks has been an educator for 25 years, beginning as a third grade teacher in Palm Bay, FL. He earned his masters in administration and has been an elementary principal for 15 years. Originally using humorous videos to encourage his staff, Gerry has become a national encourager for teachers through social media and speaking events. He is a voice for teachers, but his passion is leading others to be responsible for their own personal climate and culture in the workplace. His book, “Go See the Principal,” outlines strategies for taking on this responsibility. Gerry and his wife, Kelly, have 3 adult children and live in Lexington, KY.


Marci Bieber

2025 SCOY Winner

Marci Bieber is a dedicated educator with 30 years of experience. She spent 7 years teaching before transitioning to counseling, where she served 4 years as a K-8 Counselor and 13 years as a high school counselor. For the past 6 years, Marci has led the high school counselors of Peoria Unified District as the District Lead Counselor. She is committed to professional growth and collaboration, actively participating in the Arizona Career and Technical Education

Association (AZCTE) and the Arizona School Counselor Association (AzSCA). She has served multiple years as an AzSCA member at large and one year on the AzSCA board of directors.

Marci is a firm believer in the transformative power of education. She passionately advocates for the crucial role of school counselors in fostering student success and cultivating a positive school climate.

Ms. Lopezlira states: “A strong advocate for student success, Marci focuses on career and college readiness, ensuring that every student is prepared for their future endeavors. She leads meetings with counselors, records secretaries, career specialists, and administrators to strengthen our services, advocacy, and support for student goals. Her ability to bring people together and foster a collaborative environment has significantly enhanced our district's counseling services.”
